Melania Trump channelled Princess Diana to meet The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Changing to her third outfit in less than 12 hours, Melania was seen wearing an elegant custom white body con dress by Dolce & Gabbana. The dress featured white buttons down the front, a contrasting navy collar and flattering navy belt that clinched her waist. She topped the long sleeve dress with a wide-brimmed white hat by Hervé Pierre that also had a navy trim.

Herve Pierre, one of Melania’s favorite designers and the man behind her inauguration gown, created the boater hat for the state visit.
“Here is the sketch of the hat I designed for our First Lady, for her State Visit in England to meet Her Majesty the Queen,” wrote Pierre on Instagram. “Chalk double face wool crepe with a midnight blue biais silk crepe matching the Dolce & Gabbana dress.”

As for footwear, Melania wore a pair of classic navy suede Manolo Blahnik that matched the details of the dress. The Manolo Blahnik BB pumps currently retail for $665 at Neiman Marcus.
The complete tailored dress and hat ensemble is reminiscent of several looks worn by Princess Diana throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, as it appears that Melania is paying tribute to her timeless style.

In 1995, for the 50th anniversary of VJ Day, Princess Diana donned a gorgeous fitted white blazer outlined in navy, with chunky navy and gold buttons down the front. She paired the blazer with a white skirt and a boxy white hat with a thick navy band around the brim.

Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, meanwhile, also wore a white Anna Valentine dress. She paired the dress with a Philip Treacy hat and a neutral two-toned heels for the occasion. The Queen wore a Stewart Parvin outfit, consisting of a light jade A-Line coat, a pleated silk dress in shades of grey, jade and dusky pink, a matching hat by Rachel Trevor-Morgan and an emerald, diamond and pearl drop brooch.

Ivanka Trump was also in attendance, wearing a a three-piece white ensemble by Alessandra Rich. The full outfit from Alessandra Rich is from the Spring/Summer ’19 collection and is made up of a white pleated midi skirt that retails for $651, teamed with a matching peplum jacket that retailed for $1,995 and a crystal embellished belt that retails for $735 to complete the look.

The Trumps received a royal welcome at Buckingham Palace with a Guard of Honor in the garden and a gun salute fired from Green Park ahead of having lunch with the Queen.

Later in the afternoon, the First Couple toured Westminster Abbey with Prince Andrew, and lay a wreath on the grave of the Unknown Warrior. After tea with Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House, the Trumps will attend the state banquet in their honor at the palace.
