First Lady Melania Trump gave a keynote address at the 2020 National Opioid Summit at the Justice Department on Friday, touting the administration’s success rate in combatting opioid addiction while thanking the staff for the work.
For the summit, Melania wore a midnight blue trench dress from Atelier Caito for Herve Pierre. The First Lady previously wore the same trench midi dress with patent navy heels in 2018 while paying tribute to lives lost during 9/11 at the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, Pa. Designed by her stylist Hervé Pierre, the silk faille trench dress features white saddle stitched thread stars on the center, as well as structured white contrast trim across the frock and jetted pockets on the waist line, adding a formal touch to the fit and flare dress. It retailed for $3,395, but unfortunately it is sold out.

Since Melania’s dress is now sadly sold out, below is a roundup of alternatives that one can emulate the First Lady’s look without breaking the bank.

At the Department of Justice, Melania was introduced by Attorney General Bill Barr, who praised the first lady’s work on combatting the opioid addiction crisis.
“Our First Lady dedicates much of her time to working to protect America’s children from drug addiction,” Barr said. “This is one of the three pillars of her Be Best campaign, which is focused on the wellbeing of young people. The First Lady has also sought to draw attention to the impact that opioids have on infants and the unborn. She has traveled to West Virginia, where she visited the nation’s first non-profit infant recovery center, and to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she spent time at a children’s hospital to highlight ongoing research involving neonatal abstinence syndrome.”
Barr added: “The first lady has emphasized that ending the opioid epidemic will require the entire country to come together. She is absolutely right about that. She is doing her part to achieve that, and we are grateful that she is here with us today.”
The Attorney General noted there has been a 4.6 percent decrease of opioid overdoses between 2017 and 2018, for the first time in nearly three decades.

“As first lady of the U.S., finding solutions to our nation’s drug problem is something I care deeply about, especially when it comes to its negative effects on children and families,” Melania said in her 10 minute remark Friday morning. “Since its launch, I have used my initiative to shine a light on programs that show what it means to Be Best. This can be showing a simple act of kindness, providing care where there is need, or teaching something valuable, my initiative is meant to promote the positive actions happening in our communities to they can be replicated throughout the country and across the world.”
She gave examples of hospitals and organizations she has visited across the country and how she saw first-hand the direct impact of opioids on new mothers and newborns with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), as well as the indirect but equally as harmful effects opioids have on children and families.
“I was sad to learn that opioids have affected the lives of nearly 2.2 million children across the U.S.,” Melania said, adding that “on average, babies born with NAS stay in hospitals four times longer than healthy babies.”

Melania also thanked law enforcement for going “above and beyond the line of duty” to help combat the opioid crisis, even though and oftentimes it places them in scenarios that puts them in direct danger.
“When you remove drugs and drug dealers from our communities, you are protecting our communities and our children,” Melania stated. “We all need to come together to give our children the very best future.”
