Senior White House adviser Ivanka Trump took part in a conversation with the National Review Institute Thursday afternoon, discussing paid family leave and supporting working families.
Stepping out in shades of blue, Ivanka was seen wearing a baby blue turtleneck sweater that was tucked in an indigo mid length skirt by Alice + Olivia. The Essie midi Skirt features pleated detailing and high waisted flattering A-line shape. It retailed for $330, but unfortunately it is sold out.
Ivanka completed the cozy blue outfit with a pair of navy suede pumps that matched her skirt from Jimmy Choo. The Romy 85 pumps retails for $595 and is available for purchase at Farfetch.com.
Partaking in a conversation with the National Review Institute at Google’s D.C. offices, Ivanka announced that the White House is hosting its first summit on paid family leave and childcare affordability on December 12.
The First daughter has made it her top priority to make paid-parental leave a top issue for her father’s administration. During President Trump first year in office, Ivanka said she has spent a lot of time on on Capitol Hill talking with lawmakers, especially with Republicans to convince them that championing paid-parental leave is a conservative issue and can be accomplished in a way that aligns with the GOP platform.
“The fact that three different legislative options have been proposed by Senate Republicans — and in one case a Republican and a Democrat — in the past four months, maybe six months, that’s pretty good considering the various policy issues that are constantly being debated,” Ivanka said, discussing two plans that would allow parents to draw forward Social Security benefits or draw forward up to $5000 from the child tax credit after the birth or adoption of a child.
Several proposals have been introduced on Capitol Hill but Republicans and Democrats have been unable to agree on the mechanism for paid leave. However, she noted that some of the plans are not incompatible and said the administration likely will wait to see which one can gather a big enough coalition to have a chance of becoming law.
Unfortunately the Alice + Olivia pleated midi skirt isn’t available to buy. If you want to emulate Ivanka’s skirt for less, check out the high street finds down below.
