Trump To Resume Campaigning With In-Person Rally In Florida

President Trump plans to return back to the campaign trail on Monday after a week hiatus since testing positive for the Coronavirus, kicking off his first in-person rally in his home state of Florida.

Trump’s campaign says the event will take place Monday evening in Orlando Sanford International Airport.

“All attendees will be given a temperature check, masks which they are encouraged to wear, and access to hand sanitizer,” according to a press released detailing the event.

He confirmed the event in a tweet, saying he’ll be in Sanford, Florida, for a “very BIG RALLY” on Monday.

The White House Physician, Dr. Sean P. Conley, said in a memo Thursday that he “fully anticipates” that Trump would be able to safely “return to public engagements” as soon as Saturday.

According to the memo of the president physical exam, Trump had a heart rate of 69 beats per minute, blood pressure of 127/81, a respiratory rate of 15-17 breaths per minute, and a pulse oximetry rate of 96-98%.

“Since returning home, his physical exam has remained stable and devoid of any indications to suggest progression of illness,” the memo reads. “Saturday will be day 10 since Thursday’s diagnosis, and based on the trajectory of advanced diagnostics the team has been conducting. I fully the President’s safe return to public engagement at that time.”

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News Friday morning said the president “will be clear to go” on Saturday and there will be “medical tests underway” to make sure he doesn’t transmit the virus when he returns on the campaign trail.

On Saturday, Trump will host his first in-person event and will address the crowd from the South Lawn balcony of the White House. According to a White House official, the president will give remarks on “law and order” to a planned gathering event organized by a conservative group Blexit.

The Biden campaign quickly pounced to the news of Saturday’s White House event, calling Trump “ reckless and irresponsible” despite the fact the President won’t be close to the attendees and will give remarks from the second-floor balcony.

“Donald Trump seems to be living in an alternate reality where he isn’t sick and contagious with COVID-19 and where he didn’t just hold what Dr. Fauci himself described as a super-spreader event at the White House that likely infected dozens more,” Biden’s deputy direct response coordinator Mike Gwin said in a statement. “This decision is stunningly reckless and irresponsible, and it’s only the latest evidence that Trump has waved the white flag of defeat against this virus even as it kills thousands of Americans each week and batters our economy.”

The last time Trump was in Florida was on Sept. 25 where he participated in Latino for Trump roundtable. Trump was expected to return to the Sunshine State on October 2 for a campaign rally, but had to cancel the rally after revealing earlier that morning that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for the virus.
