President Trump on Friday ripped the media for asking Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden easy softball questions that are “meant for a child” during his campaign press event.
Speaking at his coronavirus press briefing Friday evening, Trump brought up the “second-rate magazine” The Atlantic report where it alleges from four anonymous sources that the president made disparaging remarks about fallen American service members during his trip to France in 2018. Trump furiously dismissed the story as a “disgrace” before giving criticizing reporters who asked Biden questions earlier Friday afternoon following his rare news conference billed about the economy in Wilmington, Delaware.
“I watched the interview with sleepy Joe Biden and you didn’t ask questions like that,” Trump told reporters. “Read the questions you asked. They were like, meant for a child. Those questions were meant for a child. Smiles on faces of reporters — not like you and you. They were smiles on the reporters. ‘What do you think?’ Take a look at those questions that they asked him. They were not meant for a grown-up, they were meant for a child.”
“I look at that and I think it’s a disgrace,” Trump continued. “And then when I watch Biden getting asked questions that are really meant for a child to answer, anybody could answer. and I look at the level of question that you people ask. I mean honestly, it’s disgraceful.”
Biden during his campaign event which began an hour late started off speaking about “Trump disregard for our military and veterans.”
“They are disgusting. They affirm what we already know to be true: Donald Trump is not fit for the job of president, or to hold the title commander in chief,” Biden said angrily before pushing back against Trump’s assessment of the August jobs report. “The president reportedly said that those who sign up to serve, instead of doing something more lucrative are suckers. The men and women who served with him are not suckers, and the servicemen and women he served with, who did not come home, are not losers.”
He added, “If these statements are true, the president should humbly apologize to every person in uniform, and every Gold Star and Blue Star family he has insulted. Who the hell does he think he is?”
After giving remarks, Biden randomly said he would take some questions, the second time this week on the campaign trail this has occurred. As his campaign selectively called on reporters the former Vice President fielded 12 questions regarding topics including his thoughts on Trump mocking him for wearing a mask, whether he has been tested for COVID, his anger towards the president, and other random topics.
