Trump: Pelosi is a ‘Sick Puppy’ Over Coronavirus Criticism

President Trump dubbed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) a “sick puppy” and called her statement a “disgrace to her country,” after she criticized his response to the coronavirus outbreak over the weekend.

“It’s a sad thing, [Pelosi] is a sick puppy in my opinion, she really is,” Trump said in a phone interview with ‘Fox & Friends’ Monday morning. “She’s got a lot of problems, and that’s a horrible thing to say. I stopped some very, very infected, very, very sick people, thousands coming in from China, long earlier than anybody thought, including the experts, nobody thought we should do it, except me and I stopped everybody.”

“For her to make a statement like that, I thought it was a disgrace. I think it’s a disgrace to her country, her family.”

Trump also discussed San Francisco, the the district Pelosi represents where he said the area “has become like a slum,” and the House Speaker “should focus on that” before the federal government might “take over” and intervene.

“There’s something wrong with the woman because she knows what we’ve done and then you look at San Francisco, how her area that she’s in charge of has become, from being one of the best in the whole country, has become a slum,” Trump said. “Of course she lives in a beautiful house over the ocean, but her area that she’s in charge of has become from being one of the best in the whole country, it’s become a slum and they don’t do anything about it. They leave it there.”

Trump added, “The federal government, we may get involved and take over that area and clean it up. It’s such a mess , it’s so bad, and yet she will sit there and complain. All she did was focus on impeachment. She didn’t focus on anything having to do with pandemics. She focused on impeachment and she lost! And she looked like a fool!”

On Sunday, Pelosi strongly criticized President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, arguing that he had made “deadly” decisions this past month.

“As the President fiddles, people are dying. We just have to take every precaution,” Pelosi said in a Sunday morning interview with CNN’s ‘State of the Union’. “His denial at the beginning was deadly. His delay of getting equipment to where — it continues — his delay in getting equipment to where it’s needed is deadly.”

When asked by host Jake Tapper if she thinks Trump initially downplaying the crisis has cost American lives, Pelosi said, “Yes, I am. I’m saying that.”

“And now I think the best thing to do is to prevent more loss of life rather than open things up, because we just don’t know,” Pelosi added.

Hogan Gidley, the White House Deputy Press Secretary, dismissed Pelosi’s criticism in a statement shortly after the CNN interview.

“While President Trump was protecting the American people by taking aggressive historic action to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Speaker Peloisi and the media refused to acknowledge the severity of the virus at all, choosing instead to focus on the petty politics of an illegitimate sham impeachment hoax,” Gidley said. “It’s rich for the Speaker to now criticize the President, who’s actually been fighting this silent killer for months, because when she was faced with offering immediate relief to real Americans who are struggling, she blew up negotiations on the Coronavirus relief bill with a shameful political attempt to tack radical leftist programs on to the bill – that had absolutely nothing to do with Coronavirus. America is coming together in the face of this crisis like never before, and it’s disgraceful that instead of praising the American spirit, Speaker Pelosi seeks to stoke hatred and fear for political gain.”
