Trump Campaign Launches ‘Operation MAGA’

Trump 2020 reelection campaign announced Saturday for the final month before Election Day the launch of “Operation MAGA,” that will consist of a “full marshaling of top-level surrogates, campaign coalitions and Trump supporters to rally behind the president and carry the campaign forward” until President Trump recovers from COVID-19 and can return on the campaign trail.

“Operation MAGA will fire up the entire MAGA universe to keep President Trump’s campaign at full speed until our Commander-in-Chief returns to the campaign trail,” Trump 2020 campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a press release.

Trump on Friday announced that he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the virus. The campaign announced the same day that all upcoming scheduled rallies and fundraising events involving the president would be moved virtually or temporarily postponed.

While Trump is recuperating in Walter Reed Medical Center, the campaign will host virtual events until the vice presidential debate on October 7. Following Wednesday’s debate, Vice President Mike Pence and members of the first family including Donald J. Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, and his wife Lara Trump will be “out in full force” by making in-person campaign appearance in key swing states.

“Vice President Mike Pence, the First Family, our coalitions, and our grassroots supporters will be out in full force to show the real enthusiasm behind the President’s re-election and to show we’re working as hard as he always does,” Stepien said.

Pence will begin a swing through key states following the Vice Presidential debate in Salt Lake City, Utah. On Thursday, Pence will travel to Arizona for a “Make America Great Again!” event and then will head to Indiana to vote early. The campaign will also deploy its members of the First Family and various of its coalitions including, “Women for Trump,” “Black Voices for Trump,” and “Latinos for Trump” for events in key battleground states.

The campaign is also encouraging “all of the President’s supporters to pick up the banner themselves by volunteering in our grassroots Army for Trump, flying their Trump flags, putting out more yard signs, and wearing their MAGA gear proudly.”

Along with launching “Operation MAGA,” the Trump campaign will also take over the YouTube masthead for 24 hours on Sunday that will feature a video of Trump first remarks since announcing his diagnosis as well as departing the White House for Walter Reed Military Medical Center for precautionary measure after suffering “mild” symptoms.

This is not the first time the Trump campaign has purchased the YouTube seven-figure buy masthead. The campaign recently purchased the prime time ad real estate during the first presidential debate on Tuesday and during the two weeks of both the Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention in August.
