Becoming an inspiration of fashion by selling out the exact outfits worn also caused a bit of controversy due to her love for luxury high-end designer brands. Despite the noise, the gorgeous First Lady has definitely shown the world that she is the queen of fashion with her outfit choices all making a diplomatic statement.

January 20 — For her husband, President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Melania turned to the most iconic name in American fashion and wore a Ralph Lauren powder blue cashmere mock turtleneck dress, topped with a matching cropped cutaway powder blue jacket. She paired the dress with matching blue suede gloves, also from the Ralph Lauren Collection and pumps.

 

January 20 — At night, for the Liberty and Freedom Inaugural Ball, Melania wore a custom made off-the-shoulder gown by Hervé Pierre

 

February 27 — For President Trump’s first State of the Address to Congress, Melania wore an embellished Michael Kors jacket and skirt.

 

April 5 — Greeting King Abdullah II of Jordan and his wife, the world’s most stylish royals, Queen Rania, Melania wore an emerald green long sleeve form-fitting belted dress from Hervé Pierre. The dress featured a scarf detailing and was paired with a black belt and snakeskin black Christian Louboutin pumps.

 

April 27 — In her most daring fashion move to date, Melania wore a green military-inspired Altuzarra two-piece jacket and side-slit skirt featured from Altuzarra’s Spring 2017 runway show as she welcomed Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri and First Lady Juliana Awada to the White House. Detailed with snake-stamped trim, Melania paired the outfit with white python Manolo Blahnik BB pumps.

 

May 20 — For the first stop of the President Middle Eastern tour, Melania landed in Saudi Arabia wearing a Stella McCartney black jumpsuit. The wide-leg, key-hole neckline with cuffed sleeves jumpsuit was paired with an oversized gold python belt from Saint Laurent.

 

May 26 — Melania stepped out in Sicily, Italy wearing a $51,000 Dolce & Gabbana brightly colored floral printed jacket. She paired the coat with a D&G purse valued at more than $1,000, as well as a dress from the label. This jacket was one of her most expensive outfits to date that sparked controversy based on the price tag alone.

 

June 27 — Melania welcomed India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House wearing a bright yellow belted saffron floral-print crepe Emilio Pucci floor-length dress. The dress from Pucci’s Pre-Fall ’17 collection retails for $2,160.

 

July 5 — For her second international trip to the G20 summit in Germany, Melania opted for a classic minimal everyday look. Boarding Air Force One, Melania donned a pair of cropped checked print Valentino wide-leg blush trouser with along with a plain long-sleeve black knit sweater. The Valentino pants goes for $1,790 at Neiman Marcus. She completed the look by accessorizing her outfit with black suede Manolo Blahnik pumps and a black crocodile skin Hermès Birkin handbag.

 

July 13 — Melania arrived in Paris wearing a red suit bar jacket and A-line skirt set from Christian Dior. The outfit was specifically picked out by Melania’s stylist designer Hervé Pierre to celebrate Dior 70th anniversary and the “Christian Dior: Couturier du Reve.”

 

July 25 — Heading to Ohio for her husband’s rally, Melania wore a bright pink Monique Lhuillier floral dress, paired with matching pink suede Christian Louboutin pumps.

 

August 20 — After a month hiatus, Melania returned to the White House wearing a sleeveless, midi-length yellow and white dress from Delpozo. The summer dress originally retailed for $2,300 was sold out in less than a day. She completed the look with taupe suede Manolo Blahnik’s BB 4-inch stiletto pumps. 

 

September 15 — Joining the President at the White House Historical Association dinner in the State Dining Room, Melania wore a dazzling head to toe sequin gown by Monique Lhuillier. The silver gown from Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall ’17 collection featured a velvet ribbon tie at the waist and a cape and is retailed for $8,000 on Bergdorf Goodman.

 

October 11 — Melania looks great in dresses and gowns, but she showed the fashion world how flawless a business attire can look. Welcoming Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoir Trudeau to the White House, Melania donned a relaxed pinstripe Ralph Lauren power suit. Underneath her matching gray suit, Melania wore a crisp white button-down shirt with a black tie left undone.

 

November 7 — The first lady arrived alongside President Trump in Seoul, South Korea, sporting an avant-garde dark plum Delpozo cape coat with structural sleeves. Melania kept the ensemble polished with a bright pair of purple Louboutin pumps. The coat retails for $4,000 and was the first of a few #OOTD she wore for the 11-day Asia tour.

 

November 9 — Melania donned a stunning Chinese-inspired embellished with pink flowers Dolce and Gabbana gown as she met with President Xi Jinping and his wife Madame Peng Liyuana on day five of the 11-day Asia tour.

 

November 27 — Unveiling the White House Christmas decoration, Melania wore an elegant white bell-sleeve Christian Dior midi dress. She completed the look with matching gold belt and gold snakeskin Manolo Blahnik pumps.
