Sen. Portman Won’t Seek Re-Election in 2022

"Honestly, it has gotten harder and harder to break through the partisan gridlock and make progress on substantive policy, and that has contributed to my decision," Portman said in a statement.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) announced Monday that he will not seek reelection for a third term in the Senate in 2022, citing “partisan gridlock” as a major factor in his decision to retire.

McConnell: Trump ‘Provoked’ Capitol Mob

Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) explicitly blamed President Trump for the attacks that occurred on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6th, saying the mob were “fed lied” that were “provoked by the president and other powerful people.”

Schumer Heckled By Protester During Press Conference Calling For Trump Removal

A protester interrupted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) during the middle of his press conference in New York City Tuesday as he was calling for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to reconvene the Senate chamber immediately to permit the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump before Inauguration Day.
