Senate Rejects Paul’s Motion To Dismiss Trump’s Impeachment Trial

The Senate on Tuesday rejected a motion from Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to dismiss the constitutionality of former President Trump’s impeachment trial, but the test vote offered an early preview of how GOP Senator feel about the second impeachment trial as well as the highly unlikely the Senate will have the necessary votes needed to convict Trump.

Conservative Publications and Former Republicans Reject Cruz’s Effort to Disrupt Electoral Vote Certification

The National Review, the country’s preeminent conservative magazine along with the highly influential Wall Street Journal Editorial Board criticized the group of eleven GOP senators led by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) who announced over the weekend their plans to object to the certification of the presidential election results when Congress formally counts the electoral votes this week.

Romney Says He Supports Voting on Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee

“The Constitution gives the President the power to nominate and the Senate the authority to provide advice and consent on Supreme Court nominees," Romney said.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) signaled Tuesday that he supports moving forward with the Senate vote on President Trump’s nominee to fill the vacancy left by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg during an election year.
