President Biden called for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign following the release of a damning report that found that the governor sexually harassed multiple women over a seven-year period, becoming the top Democrat to join the growing list amongst his party in calling on New York’s powerful three-term governor to step aside.
Over a dozen of New York Congressional Democrat delegations, including high-profile names Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Carolyn Maloney (NY-12), and veteran Rep. Jerry Nadler (NY-10) who simultaneously called for Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to resign amid half-dozen allegations of sexual misconduct in recent weeks, with some noting his other scandal involving his administration handling of COVID in nursing home.
After a 28-day delay, the House voted Wednesday to send the two articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate for a trial that is expected to begin next week. The resolution passed 228-193 largely along party lines. Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN) was the only Democrat to vote against the resolution. Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI), who switched from Republican to Independent last year, voted in favor of the resolution.
