The House of Representatives on Thursday voted to approve a resolution aimed at restricting the President’s ability to use military action against Iran without congressional approval. The measure passed by a nearly party-line vote of 224-194, but there were a few defectors from both sides of the aisle. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House will vote Thursday on a resolution limiting President Trump’s military action with Iran without congressional authorization. “Last week, the Trump Administration conducted a provocative and disproportionate military airstrike targeting high-level Iranian military officials,” Pelosi said in a statement Wednesday. “The Administration took this action without consulting Congress. This action endangered our service members, diplomats and others by risking a serious escalation of tensions with Iran.”
Nearly all House Democrats are planning to vote for the articles of impeachment against President Trump on Wednesday. Republicans, on the other hand, are not expecting any defections, setting up a party line vote carried by Democrats.
