Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams on Monday said she would “be honored” to be the vice presidential candidate on the 2020 Democratic ticket.
“The first time I was on here I got the question about running as VP during the primary, and I apparently famously said, ‘no, because you don’t run for second in a primary,’” Abrams said on ABC’s ‘The View.’ “However, because that conversation started, I’m now getting the question a lot from folks and the answer is of course, I would be honored to run as vice president with the nominee.”
She added that, as a black woman, she’s in an “unusual position” of being considered the possible next vice president.
“It would be doing a disservice to every woman of color, every woman of ambition, every child who wants to think beyond their own space for me to say no, or pretend no, I don’t want it,” Abrams said. “Of course I want it. Of course I want to serve America, of course I want to be a patriot.”

When asked if she wants to run for president in the future, Abrams said, “absolutely.”
“I want to do good, and there’s no stronger platform than president of the United States and that’s a position I want to one day hold,” she said.
On which of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate she would endorse in the primary, Abrams declined to endorse one candidate over the other, saying her “job right now is to fix our democracy” by ensuring everyone who’s eligible to vote though her organization Fair Fight 2020.
“My best service is to be in what neutral space where it’s not about who the nominee is it’s about making sure no matter who the nominee is, any person who wants to go and vote can vote,” Abrams said.
Fair Fight 2020 is a multi-million dollar initiative Abrams created as an election reform organization after ruling out running for Senate in Georgia last year. According to a disclosure report filed in December, billionaire Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg made a donation of $5 million to Abrams’ Fair Fight Political Action Committee (PAC).
The View hosts asked Abrams about Bloomberg $5 million donation to her Fair Fight initiative and the hundreds of millions he has spend during his presidential campaign.
“I am grateful to any person who contributes to Fair Fight. We have more than one hundred thousand contributors. His check just had a few more zeros on it,” Abrams said while defending his obscene amount on campaign spending. “I think that for once we actually know where the money is coming from. Every person is allowed to run and should run the race that they think they should run, and Mike Bloomberg has chosen to use his finances.”
“Other people are using their dog, their charisma, their whatever,” she added. “I think it’s an appropriate question to raise. But I don’t think it’s disqualifying for anyone to invest in fixing America.”
