Skinny pants have always been my go-to pants for a long time. However, these season trend of wide-leg/Palazzo pants had me put to a halt on always wearing on my skinnies to swap them for something out of the ordinary.
Wide leg pants are extremely comfortable to wear due to its loose fit, while giving you a graceful flare to your legs, especially when pairing them with high heels. With this type of pants, the emphasis of your outfit should be solely focused on your pants, so the top should be a tight fitted to tuck in or a crop top. Pairing either or tops will give your wide-leg pants the center stage of the outfit.
When I saw this mustard color split-front pants from a boutique in the Bronx (where I am from), I automatically fell in love with them. What’s better than a wide-leg pants? Besides the stunning color, the frontal split from your waist all the way down to your ankles. Double the split, double the fun. #Obsessed. This statement piece was something I haven’t seen at the moment in the streets of New York and I knew these pants details that would make me stand out from every other wide-leg bottoms. Unfortunately, this store doesn’t have an online shop to link it to buy, so I linked below similar split wide-leg pants.
For this look, I paired my wide-leg split pants with an another season trend, a bell sleeve cold shoulder top from Bebe. A tight fitting top to tuck in allows you to show off the gold belt feature attached to the pants. The top was bought earlier this year and it was difficult to find online, so I linked similar bell sleeves that are cold shoulder tops below. As for shoes, with the front being split, the shoes you wear matters. Besides showing off the split, I also showed off my favorite go-to heels of all time, my Valentinos. I swear they are the most comfortable heels ever created and it is so worth splurging a thousand dollars for them.
One tip I have with wearing wide leg pants is to get them either tailored the bottom if you are short like me to prevent the pants from dragging onto the dirty streets or tripping on yourself. I didn’t do at this time when I took my #OOTD pictures, but when I got home, I washed them and got the hem tailored to wear again down the road.
P.S. When shooting this outfit, there was a newspaper in the middle of the street between two taxi cabs parked. As I was shooting, the wind began to make the newspaper fly towards me, capturing the picture that has now become my avatar for Political Fashion. It’s the perfect representation of what this blog and me 100 percent stands for.
So are wide-leg pants making me throw away my skinnies? NO! They are joining the skinnies in my tight fitting closet =D
