Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is appearing as a guest judge on the 12th season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” pledging her “allegiance to the drag.”
“I pledge allegiance to the drag,” the progressive freshman says in a promo of the reality show, telling fans to “join the Ruvolution.”

The series, which pits 13 cross-dressing contestants against each other in the search of “America’s Next Drag Superstar,” is going political for the upcoming 12th season.
Ocasio-Cortez said earlier this year that being a guest on the drag competition series would be her “dream.”
“I’m just so thankful that we have a community that can celebrate each other and just find joy in each other and beauty in each other and uplift each other,” AOC said during a live Instagram post, calling “Drag Race” one of “the most amazing things ever.”
AOC isn’t the first politician to guest judge the reality show. In 2018, Speaker Nancy Pelosi was a guest judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars.”
“This idea of people believing in themselves, being themselves, taking pride in themselves, is not just a lesson for politicians but for everyone in the country. And that’s why I was so excited and couldn’t resist being on the show,” Pelosi told The Hollywood Reporter.
The new season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” premieres Feb. 28 on VH1.
