Melania stole the show at the 2018 Governors’ Ball in a floor-length black lace gown.
For the White House’s 2018 Governors Ball, First Lady Melania Trump wore a custom made gown from Dolce & Gabbana. Dubbed the “Melania” dress, the floor-length all black gown was a long-sleeve floral pattern lace featuring shimmering sequins throughout the. The stunning snug fitting dress had a sheath silhouette that covered Melania’s body as the lace showed off her arms and neckline.
Lace overlay is considered a house signature style for Dolce & Gabbana, as they create pieces that are both “sexy and sophisticated.” Since this specific dress was custom-made for Melania, fashion lovers won’t be able to score this exact dress itself, but can get a similar Dolce and Gabbana cocktail dress, such as the one Melania wore last June attending dinner at the Naval Observatory online at Farfetch for $2,735.
Dolce & Gabbana is considered to be one of Melania go-to fashion house. Just two days ago, Melania stepped out of the White House to greet Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his wife, wearing a military-inspired coat from her favorite brand. The designer has a close relationship with Melania, stand by her side as critics attempted to boycott the Italian fashion brand for dressing the First Lady.
The Governor Ball is a yearly event that hosts governors and their spouses from across the country, giving both Democrat and Republican governors the opportunity to meet and socialize. Giving brief remarks before dinner, President Trump addressed the nation’s governors on the recent Florida shooting to bring up school safety, while praising his wife for making the room look more “beautiful” than he’s ever seen it.
“Well, I want to start by congratulating our great First Lady on such a beautiful room. I’ve never seen it look so beautiful. Worked very hard,” Trump said. “I also want to say that it’s an honor to have so many of our tremendously talented governors with us. This is a yearly tradition, and our crowd gets a little bit larger every year.”
Looking forward to hosting members of the @NatlGovsAssoc & their spouses at the @WhiteHouse this evening. Wonderful opportunity to come together in friendship on behalf of our many communities across the country.
