The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.”
Melania was treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a kidney condition that she had been experiencing. According to her office, the kidney issue is described as “benign,” but required medical attention.
Melania is the first US First Lady to undergo surgery while in the White House since Nancy Reagan. Mrs. Reagan underwent a mastectomy in October 1987.
The White House didn’t offer any additional details on Melania and her condition following the surgery. Her husband, President Donald Trump is expected to visit the hospital shortly.
