Melania Trump Thanked Nurses For Going ‘Above And Beyond’ On National Nurses Day

First Lady Melania Trump expressed her “sincere gratitude” to nurses across America on National Nurses Day, lauding healthcare heroes for going “above and beyond their call of duty” in being on the frontline in the battle against the coronavirus.

“As we honor and celebrate National Nurses day. I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the nurses across America,” Melania said in a video message Wednesday morning. “In addition to the work you do each day. You have gone above and beyond your call of duty in responding to our nation’s invisible enemy — COVID-19.”

Melania went on praising nurses for showing “immense courage and selflessness” during these uncertain times “to help protect the health and well being of the American people.”

You are an inspiration to us all, and your actions show us the true power of the American spirit,” Melania concluded. “Thank you for your care and compassion. Our nation will continue to pray for your safety and strength. May God bless you and your families, and may God bless the United States of America.”

The uplifting video message comes a day after the First Lady donated 150 boxed lunches to the patients and staff of Children’s Inn at the National Institute of Health. According to a statement by the First Lady spokesperson Stephanie Grisham, Melania donated the lunches to “support those impacted by the effects” of the coronavirus and to “reach out to people in a variety of ways” during these unique times.

Last week, Melania sent care packages to hospital medical staff and children patients in 10 states that were the hardest hit by the coronavirus. Children patients received gifts from the First Lady’s Be Best initiative containing blankets, caps, tote bags, pencils, backpacks, stickers, Dr. Seuss books, and games.

She also showed her gratitude by delivering boxed lunches to staff at a D.C. Trader Joe’s store.

Since the pandemic, the First Lady has been keeping active on social media by providing a steady stream of guidance of important messages from the Coronavirus Task Force and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She also posted videos about the importance of social distancing, tips, and thank you messages to all the medical personnel and other frontline responders who are “fighting this invisible enemy,” as well as thanking essential workers who have continued to work and keep America open during these times.
