On Monday, First Lady Melania Trump unveiled the Christmas decoration whose theme reflects 200 years of holiday traditions at the White House.
Presenting the White House’s annual holiday decorations, Melania wore a simple but elegant white bell-sleeve Christian Dior midi dress, looking “like an angel” children said as she entered the East Room.
“Are you the first lady?” one child asked Melania as another child was heard saying
“she beautiful. She seriously looks like an angel,” before running up to greet the first lady with heartwarming hugs. Melania invited young children from Joint Base Andrews military base to take part of the Christmas decoration reveal as well as to assemble holiday-themed crafts.

The white caped Dior dress is similar to the navy Dior dress Melania wore earlier in November when she visited Japan with her husband, President Donald Trump during his 13-day Asia tour. The navy-blue timeless look is from the French brand’s Fall 2016 collection that comes complete with a tonal belt. Unfortunately, both dresses are not available for purchase online and only can be purchased at a brick and mortar stores.
For the white dress, according to Vogue, Melania switched the built-in belt with a thin vintage Dior gold belt. She completed the look by matching the gold belt with gold snakeskin Manolo Blahnik pumps.
Melania began her tour of the White House Christmas decorations by walking down the Grand Staircase into the Grand Foyer where she was welcomed with a trio of ballerinas performing to the “Nutcracker Suite.” This year’s classic theme is called “Time-Honored Traditions” which the White House said pays respect to 200 years of holiday traditions.
“The president, Barron, and I are very excited for our first Christmas in the White House,” the first lady said in a statement. “As with many families across the country, holiday traditions are very important to us. I hope when visiting the People’s House this year, visitors will get a sense of being home for the holidays. On behalf of my husband and Barron, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season.”
Before the unveiling, Melania posted a video of the decor on twitter. “The decorations are up,” the tweet says.

According to the White House, Melania personally choose every detail of the decor. She opted for a traditional decor, but added a few new touches such as wreaths handing from the exterior of every window and glistening wintry branches lining the hallway. The East Wing will pay tribute to servicemembers with a Gold Star Family Tree, which is decorated in patriotic ribbon and gold stars. The official White Christmas tree, a 19 and 1/2 foot fir tree placed in the Blue Room is decorated with ornaments bearing the seals of every state and U.S. territory.
It includes 53 Christmas trees with more than 12,000 ornaments, over 71 wreathes inside and outside the White House, more than 3,100 yards of ribbon and 1,000 feet of garland were used to add details. In center stage, a 350 pound delectable gingerbread house shaped of the South facade White House also features Melania’s signature Christmas wreaths.
More than 25,000 visitors are expected to tour the White House during the holiday season.
