For the ninth time, the Democratic primary field will come together to debate. This time, there’s a new kid on the block.
For the first time, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will appear onstage at Wednesday’s debate in Las Vegas, three days ahead of the Nevada caucuses. The event marks the billionaire’s first time participating in a Democratic debate, having joined the field in November, months after his rivals.
Six candidates qualified for the debate — Bloomberg, former Vice President Joe Biden; Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana; Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Sen. Bernie Sanders(I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Tom Steyer, the other billionaire in the race who’s been a frequent presence at the Democratic debates, did not qualify for Nevada debate.
