A group of Trump supporters accosted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Friday at Reagan National Airport where he was confronted and verbally harassed with chants calling him a “traitor” as some even said he was is “sex trafficker.”
In the video, Graham was sitting down and appearing to be talking on his cellphone while waiting for his flight when a crowd of people began to swarm the Senator asking if he could “make to the American people.”
Surrounded by detailed Capitol security, one man was heard promising they weren’t going to attack the Senator and just wanted to talk.
“I’m not going to touch him. I’m not going to do anything to do him,” one man is heard in the video telling the security detail. “I just want to speak to him.”
People could be heard shouting “Traitor, You Traitor! You are Traitor!” while following Graham to an undisclosed location in the airport. Some of the crowd then began following the Senator while his security escorted him through the airport to be away from the mob with one lady can be heard shouting at Graham, “you are a sex trafficker,” and repeatedly shouting “sex trafficker.”
One person in the video could be seen wearing a “Trump 2020” snapback while another was seen donning a red “MAGA” hat and shirt
Towards the end of the clip, one man began to threaten Graham, warning “you won’t be able to walk down the street anymore. It’s over.”
“Traitor Lindsey Graham,” another man yelled at the Senator. “Pedophile.”
Graham broke away from Trump by calling on his colleagues to end the objection in delaying the certification of the electoral college votes and recognizing Biden as the President-elect once Congress reconvened Wednesday night following the Capitol siege, saying “it is over.”
“Trump and I, we’ve had a hell of a journey. I hate it to end this way,” Graham said in his debate remarks as the Senate was finishing up the debate on the objection of Arizona electoral votes. “I hated being it this way. Oh my God, I hate it. From my point of view, he’s been a consequential president. But today, first thing you’ll see. All I can say is, count me out. Enough is enough. I’ve tried to be helpful.”
“It is over, it is over,” Graham added. “The final thing Joe Biden, now I’ve traveled the world with Joe. I hope that he lost. I pray that he will lose. He won. He’s the legitimate president of the United States. I cannot convince people, certain groups by my words but I will tell you by my actions that maybe I among, above all others in this body need to say this. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are lawfully elected and will become the president and the vice president of the united states on January, the 20th.”
Once the chaos outside the Capitol was all cleared following the breach, Congress reconvened late Wednesday night and handed Biden his Electoral College victory in the early hours of Thursday morning.
In the aftermath of the riots at the Capitol, Graham sharply criticized Trump’s recent action for pushing his legal team that distorted the facts regarding the election results, saying this has “tarnished” his legacy as president.
“When it comes to accountability, the president needs to understand that his actions were the problem, not the solution,” Graham said during a news conference on Thursday. “It breaks my heart that my friend, a president of consequence, would allow yesterday to happen and it will be a major part of his presidency. It was a self-inflicted wound.”
“There’s been a constant effort by people from the president’s legal team to provide misinformation, to distort the facts, to make accusations that cannot be proven. That needs to stop,” Graham added.
It is unknown at the moment if the group harassing the South Carolina Senator actually attended the Trump rally or was part of the chaotic riot on Capitol Hill that occurred on Wednesday.
