New York City weather has been horrible since Christmas. With the weather being in the lower 10, but feeling like -5, it has made shooting any #OOTD photos extremely difficult! Not even my photographer wanted to step out and shoot. Kudos to some fashion bloggers I know and follow who stepped out during this weather and especially after bomb cyclone to shoot, especially some who shot without coats. You are the real fashion heroes.
So finally the weather has became appropriate enough to step out and catch some fresh air (I work from home, unless I have meetings or events or I have travel to other states, I normally don’t step out my house in the winter time) I legit have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) or Winter Depression where once winter comes, I curl up and don’t have the energy in me to do anything. The only way to get over SAD in the winter, at least until spring comes, is when the sun is out and it’s not too cold.
Faux fur coats and vest have become a staple outerwear to have this season. For this look, I decided to go all Cruella de Vil (I definitely wanted to steal some puppies that day, but not to skin their fur for coats 😉) I love adding this beige faux fur vest I got from Forever 21 to my all black turtleneck top and jeans as it added instant glam to this outfit. Without my vest (and my heel boots) it looked like I was ready to rob a bank — my sister said this as I was getting ready to shoot.😆 This outfit was so comfortable and l am obsessed!
I paired my beige faux fur to my all black outfit, I decided to go bi-chromatic by matching my beige rugged toe boot heels that I got from DSW early last year and my favorite beige bag to my beige faux fur. I love bi-chromatic look over monochromatic because it’s add depth and dimension to an outfit, as well as a cleaner approach in putting an outfit together.
When wearing faux fur vest, one should keep the rest of your outfit — either a shirt with pants or a dress to a minimal. If your fur has prints or patterns (stay tuned for this outfit post), I suggest keeping your outfit to one-color. This is because your faux fur is making the statement of your outfit.
So remember this rule when wearing faux fur vest/coat— a black ensemble pairs perfectly with a color/pattern faux furs, as white or light color ensemble pairs perfectly with black colored faux fur.
Shout Out — I have to thank (on the blog) my Dr.Munchkin sister (personal nickname I call her) for making time for me from the only day off she had this week to help me shoot this look. For someone who only uses the family’s DSLR to shoot animals or scenery when we go to the zoo, she knocked it off the park with my outfit shoot. I guess now I will use her more (when she is free) to help me shoot my #ootd more often.😆

January 12, 2018I’d love a faux fur vest but unfortunately this style doesn’t seem to suit me all that well. I love this look on you though! Those boots too – OMG love them.

January 11, 2018I live for my faux fur vest – they’re so warm but stylish (unlike my giant puffer coats). I live in Western New York so I feel your pain on the cold weather. Hoping spring comes early this year!

January 11, 2018I legit have SAD too!!! It’s ridiculous how cold it’s been in the city! I moved here from Minneapolis where it gets to be about -30 and I was sure I’d never be that cold again haha! But this winter has been SO cold!

January 11, 2018Ugh I don’t blame you for not wanting to step outside in that frigid cold! That being said, I’m glad you finally got to get out and take some pictures! I love it when someone can pull off a fur vest well! and those boots are to die for!

January 11, 2018I don’t know If “you’re so lucky, to experience winter” is appropriate but I’m honestly jealous. I wanted to wear coats and layered them with style. But it’s so hard to pull that kind of outfit if I’m living in an always Summer country, like Thailand or Philippines. Anyways, i love your faux fur vest you look so amazing.
