Inspired by the sentiment found within the pages of Dr. Seuss’s “Oh! The Places You’ll Go”, Cynthia Rowley brought that same sense of wanderlust to the runway. The designer’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection served as the kick-off to a traveling runway with the next stop in Los Angeles and other destinations to come.

Designer Cynthia Rowley turned TriBeCa’s hidden spot of Jay Street into an animated, happy play land inspired by Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” The street runway — a 200-ft. rug was printed with images from the book, with a few dresses including a mash-up of Dr. Seuss’ fine art.

“This season we filmed our models who we cast from around the globe and asked them if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?,” Rowley said. “In the words of the Dr…Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!”

A proliferation of pumped up pastels and sleek two-tone pieces mixed easily with texture and print for a joyful Spring 2020 collection. Slouchy sportswear including a powder pink wind cheater, acid green trousers, and cyan and baby blue suit contrasted the voluminous dresses that floated down the runway. There was a fresh and relaxed intention in each piece. Graphic embroidery and oversized sweaters and jackets added a layer of texture with hints of Dr. Seuss coming through in striped raffia hats, scalloped leather bags, and two-tone shoes.
