It was all black everything on the red carpet.
At the 2018 Golden Globes, Hollywood stars ditched the colorful attention-grabbing gowns to band together wearing black, a show of solidarity in protest against sexual harassment.
The black sartorial protest, according to Refinery 29, was staged to protest the harassment, assault, and victims of sexual misconduct following the Harvey Weinstein scandal. The united fashion front became known as #TimesUp movement — “to join together as a united front that screams loudly to the world ‘We are not going to stand for the inequality, for the injustices, for the “lesser-than” treatment. We will no longer be silent.’ Time’s up for the patriarchy. Time’s up for the abuse. Yes, they will be wearing black, but they will still be as beautiful and glamorous as years before, because they are rising triumphantly into what will hopefully be a new era in Hollywood.”
Despite the sea of black, some stars stood out and looked stunning. Whether it was the dramatic style, or the embellished details, it was solid proof that fashion can help make a political statement.
No matter how one feels about Hollywood stars, or what their political affiliation is, this year Golden Globes made a statement and will go down in history as one of the most dramatic political statement in awards season history. Fashion has no political affiliation and this is the main reason Political Fashion has gathered the best dressed black gowns seen in the red carpet.

I had planned to do a post on the worst dressed of the Golden Globes, but the political fashion statement behind wearing black to show unity against sexual harassment was so powerful that I decided to skip out on criticizing anyone. Make no mistake, there were several dresses and outfits that were so hideous and the Joan Rivers in me was screaming to comment. Next time promise.
